 City of Delano shifting to essential services plan amid COVID-19

The City of Delano is transitioning within its community health emergency plan to the delivery of only essential services and minimizing direct person-to-person contact. This is a continuity measure to allow the continuation of essential public services by reducing potential direct contact with employees carrying out services. 

The City will be closing all public access to facilities on Monday, March 16, until further notice.  The City will continue to perform essential services as defined below and employees will be available by telephone and email during the facilities closure. The City asks for the public’s patience and understanding of this action. 

To maintain the city’s continuity of business, we ask residents to refer to the following information:

Building and Permitting Department

The City’s Building Department will continue its operating during this time. Residents, contractors, and those seeking permits or inspections should contact the department by email buildingpermits@delano.mn.us or by phone at 763-972-0550.

Water and Electric Utilities

Delano Municipal Utilities is also continuing operations, but its facilities are also closed to public access.  To reach Delano Municipal Utilities for a water or electric matter, please call 763-972-0557.  Additional information is available at https://delanomn.us/

Streets, Parks, Trails, Storm Water, and Sanitary Sewer

Delano Public Works is continuing operations.  Please contact Delano City Hall at 763-972-0550 for matters related to streets, parks, trails, storm water, or sanitary sewer service.

Fire, Emergency Response, and Medical Response

If you have a fire or medical emergency, call 911. The Delano Fire and Rescue Department continues to be fully staffed and operating under normal protocols without interruption.

Delano Motor Vehicle Department (DMV)

The Delano DMV remains open for business by mail or secure drop box.  Customers may renew tabs or complete title transactions by submitting all necessary information and payment by mail or in the drop box.  Visit dps.mn.gov for more information on requirements or other available Deputy Registrar Offices.

Senior Center

The Delano Senior Center and all senior trips and activities are closed until further notice. 

Crow River Villa

The Crow River Villa office will remain open on a limited basis.  Residents of the Crow River Villa are encouraged to practice social distancing and minimize contact with other residents if they are feeling ill or have been exposed to someone experiencing sickness.  The City also requests minimal visitor access for the current time period to reduce exposure and contact with all residents.  Residents are encouraged to contact Villa management by phone at 763-972-2945 or by email a tweber@delano.mn.us
