Municipal Election
In conjunction with the State General Election, the City of Delano will hold its municipal election November 2, 2010. Delano voters will elect their Mayor and two Council Members at the November General Election. Terms for these Council positions are four years beginning January 1, 2011 and ending December 31, 2015.
People interest in running for office for the City of Delano must file an affidavit of candidacy. The first day to file affidavits of candidacy is Tuesday, August 3 through Tuesday, August 17. To file for office, an individual must meet the following requirements:

Candidate must be an eligible voter.

Is, or will be on assuming the office, 21 years of age or more.

Maintained residence in the district from which the candidate seeks election for 30 days before the general election.
Candidates must file an Affidavit of Candidacy and pay a $2.00 filing fee with the City Clerks office at Delano City Hall, 234 2nd Street North. Office hours are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Tuesdays 7:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Fridays 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. Closed on weekends. Election Judges
The City of Delano is in the process of soliciting election judges to work for both elections. If you would like to serve as an Election Judge, please fill out and return the Election Judge Application by Friday, May 21, 2010 as the Council needs to approve a Resolution for Eelction Judges in June.
Required Qualifications
To serve as an election judge or trainee you must:

be a U.S. citizen
-
be a Minnesota resident
-
not have had your voting rights revoked
-
read, write and speak English
-
attend a two-hour training sessiion
You cannot be:
-
the spouse, parent, child or sibling of any election judge serving in the same precinct
-
the candidate or the spouce, parent, child or sibling of any candidate on the ballot in that precinct.
