City of Delano's Ordinance 718.01 requires property owners and/or tenants to remove snow and ice from the sidewalk on their property within forty eight (48) hours after an ice or snow fall.
The City of Delano has developed door hangers to notify residents, who are not following City Ordinance, that their sidewalk must be cleared of snow and ice. If you are notified via door hanger, please remove the snow and ice as soon as possible. Please see an example of the door hanger below:

Why does the City have this Ordinance?

Are there consequences if I don't shovel?
The City of Delano hopes that tenants and property owners will be able to keep the sidewalks clean and clear. However, if this duty is neglected, the snow and ice will be removed at the owner's expense. This cost may be billed and/or assessed against the property.
