Employment Opportunities

When people call 911 they don’t want just anybody, they want the best.  The Delano Fire Department looks for dedicated passionate people to become part of our team that responds 24/7 to natural and manmade emergencies.  Being a part of our team requires a large commitment and is very rewarding.  To be successful, applicants need the support of their family, friends, and significant other as this commitment will affect them as well.  Our team does have minimum requirements for our members but good applicants are ones that will exceed these requirements and want to do more.  The Delano Fire Department has a mission/vision statement along with a firefighter’s code of ethics to follow.

Delano Fire Department is a paid on-call department.  On top of this the Delano Fire Relief Association following state laws is able to provide pension to our members.

Delano’s service area covers around 74 square miles and will also assist neighboring departments when requested.   Our department responds out of a single station, averaging 500+ emergency calls per year.

Applications for becoming a Delano Firefighter can be submitted at any time.  Once submitted the staff will process the application following their guidelines which reflect current roster status.
