  • Full-Time Assistant Building Official

The City of Delano seeks a full-time Assistant Building Official. The primary purpose of this position is to provide a wide variety of inspection and plan review services which will ensure that city building, fire and related codes, policies and ordinances are effectively and impartially administered and enforced throughout the city.

General Duties. Provide building services within the City of Delano and contracted communities and administers the enforcement of state building codes and city ordinances. Performs plan review, inspection and enforcement work related to building, plumbing, mechanical, health and zoning codes. This position works collaboratively with the Building Official and Combination Inspector. In addition, this position also serves as a resource to residents, businesses, developers, architects, etc. for expansion and development and provides input on planning/development proposals. Key candidates will meet and deal tactfully with residents, owners, contractors, City staff and other persons involved.

Desired Qualifications. High School graduate or GED equivalent, related technical or vocation school graduate is preferred; related Bachelors Degree desired. State of Minnesota Certified Building Official; I.C.B.O Certified Building Inspector; valid MN drivers license. Minimum of three years experience as a building official or inspector, including plan review and inspection of a variety of construction projects, with knowledge of blueprint reading, construction codes, ordinances, laws and regulations. Proven skills in mediation, complaint resolution and problem solving.

 

Pay range for Assistant Building Official position is $65,377 - $76,606, with benefits.   • On-Call Snow Removal Laborer Position. 

The City of Delano is accepting applications for the position of an On-call Snow Removal Laborer to assist the Public Works Department during snow emergencies. Responsibilities include ice control and snow removal of the downtown area and surrounding sidewalks and trails using shovels and small equipment such as skid loader and snow blowers. This position will be an on-call basis during snow emergencies during the approximate hours of midnight to 7am.  In recent years, the City has had snow emergencies approximately 10-15 days per winter season.   • Public Works Full-Time Maintenance Worker. 

The City of Delano seeks a full-time Public Works General Maintenance Worker. Responsibilities include maintenance and repair of streets, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, parks, buildings and grounds, and related facilities.

General Duties. Routine duties include, but are not limited to, performing a wide variety of work in connection with streets, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer systems; prepare and maintain park facilities, including fields, ice rinks, playground equipment, public facilities and grounds; mowing, trimming, trail maintenance and assisting with landscaping; clean and maintain storm water infrastructure; operates light and heavy mechanical equipment; performs tree trimming and tree maintenance; assist with snow and ice removal and street sweeping.

Minimum qualifications. High school diploma or equivalent; past experience and general knowledge of skills and abilities required to work within a public works department; Class B commercial driver’s license; ability to acquire new licenses related to public works; ability to be trained in all functions of public works departments including related equipment, machinery and tools.

Pay range for Public Works Maintenance Worker position is $19.75-$25.03 with benefits.   • Public Works Part-Time Seasonal Warming House Attendant. 

The City of Delano Public Works Department is currently accepting applications for part-time seasonal Warming House Attendants. Warming House Attendants will supervise a warming house and outdoor skating ice rinks; enforce park and skating rules; interact with and provide customer service to skaters and general assistance as needed; report incidents; and complete other tasks as assigned.

Typical season is mid-December through mid-March; weather depending. Rinks and warming house hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 4:00pm – 8:00pm; Saturday: 12:00pm – 8:00pm; and Sunday: 12:00pm to 4:00pm
