Fun in the Sun

The City of Delano will be hosting "Fun in the Sun" (FITS) again in 2011; this is the seventh year for the FITS recreation program.  The program will involve coordinated activities in municipal parks from June 13-23, July 11-28, Aug 1-4.  The purpose of FITS is to provide additional summer programming for children (ages 5 and up) and to further utilize municipal parks.

The program will begin on Monday, June 13, 2011.  Each session will be from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.  No programming will be offered during the week last week of June (June 27-30) and the first week of July (July 4-7).  FITS will rotate between the following parks each day of the week.

MONDAY'S -- Central Park (located on River Street near County Road 30)

TUESDAY'S -- Parkview Hills Park (located in Parkview Hills)

WEDNESDAY'S -- Woods Creek Park (located at Woods Creek Drive and Southwood Drive)

THURSDAY'S -- Barb King Inspiration Park   

Each week, FITS will feature a different activity for its participants.  Possible activities could include athletic games, learning demonstrations, and arts and crafts.  Depending upon levels of participation, activities may be separated based on age levels.

FITS will be offered to residents of Delano free of charge during the summer of 2011.  Residents will be required to submit a registration form signed by a parent or guardian prior to participation in the program.

** ATTENTION PARENTS & GUARDIANS! **

Participants are recommended to have/use the following:

* Baseball caps - for sun shade
* Water or another beverage (none will be provided for participants)
* Bug Repellant

** Some parks do not have bathroom facilities - please plan accordingly.
*** FITS is not a supervised recreation program.  Parents/Guardians are responsible for their children at all times.  FITS employees are directing activities within City park facilities only, and are not supervising or otherwise responsible for the well-being and/or caretaking of any participants.  Parents/Guardians are strongly encouraged to be present during FITS in order to supervise their children.
